What's in a name?

Hello again, Veronica and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary last weekend and were able to spend some time antiquing and looking for inspiration. We wandered down to the Camas vintage street fair and checked out all of the great vendors down there. If I was an experienced blogger, I would have remembered to bring my camera or at least taken notes, but I totally spaced it, so all I can tell you is that we saw a lot of soggy but smiling people (luckily , we arrived post-deluge:) and some beautifully arranged booths, and had a quick visit with (and bought a really pretty vase from) Michelle from "my shabby passion" She always has such beautiful things!

Since I don't have pics to share from that event , I thought I would share a little about us and how we became "the Olive Kat" We have been collecting and selling vintage goodies for a couple of years now, and our friend Cathy Foley from "Beyond the garden gate" who was a big supporter of ours from the beginning, invited us to participate in the "vintage Gathering" event sales starting at the season opening event in May. Timing was perfect since we had just pulled out of a booth in a local market that we had been maintaining for the last year.

We had a great time at the first couple of sales, and then Cathy said that people had started asking about us and that we should probably have a name , Other than "those Pyrex people". Several names were thrown around and we tried on the name "I Hart Pyrex" but it didn't seem to stick and we kept experimenting. The kids really wanted us to be named "Pyrex cove", or "Pyrex of the Caribbean" but we thought that although we specialize in Pyrex dishes, that's not all that we do and we thought it might be limiting to have Pyrex in our name so we came up with "the Olive Kat" using the names of our daughters Olivia, and Katherine, since they have had to suffer through every family outing and vacation turning into a "junking" expedition and invariably they have to ride home with bags full of treasures In their laps because we ran out of room in the back of the car, and they take it all in stride. They inspire us and we love them very much.

We are truly excited to be continuing this adventure and we hope that, whatever you call us, you will come say hi at the next event , on Oct. 3 rd at "Uncovered Ruby" located at 510 e. Main st, Battle Ground WA 98604 They will be celebrating their 2 year anniversary at this location and they have tons of great vendors lined up along with their own collection of beautiful items for your home. See you there! - Matt and Veronica Hart
